Om konkurransen
The 1st Trophy Ksamil Island marks a milestone in the growing popularity of open water swimming in the Balkans, set against the backdrop of the mesmerizing Ionian Sea. Ksamil, often referred to as the 'Ionian Pearl,' is a destination defined by its turquoise waters, white sandy coves, and the distinct cluster of small, lush islands that dot the horizon just off the coast. Choosing to participate in this inaugural event means being part of the pioneering generation of swimmers who will establish the tradition of this race in one of Albania's most pristine coastal regions. The setting is nothing short of spectacular: as you swim, you are surrounded by a landscape where Mediterranean greenery meets crystalline, transparent depths, offering a sensory experience that rivals the most famous Mediterranean resorts.
This event is organized by AOWS (Albania Open Water Swimming), an organization dedicated to promoting the sport in the region, ensuring that the race is managed with high safety standards and a welcoming community spirit. The 1st Trophy Ksamil Island is designed not just for elite athletes, but for any enthusiast looking to test their mettle in an exotic, new location. Because Ksamil is a popular holiday destination, the atmosphere is inherently social and vibrant, making it an excellent choice for families or groups of friends who want to combine a competitive challenge with a coastal vacation. After you have completed your swim and the adrenaline fades, you will find plenty of reasons to {{link:experiences|explore the local wonders}}, from hidden beaches to the nearby ruins of Butrint. Whether you are coming from across Europe or looking for a local challenge, this race offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Albanian Riviera.
