Around the Rocks is recognized as the oldest organized ocean swim in Cape Town. The event takes place in the waters of Big Bay, where participants navigate around the local rock islands. The exact distance of the route is determined by the prevailing swell size, typically covering approximately 2500 meters.
The swim is characterized by its challenging ocean conditions, with average water temperatures ranging between 12 and 15 degrees Celsius. It remains a staple of the local open water swimming calendar, drawing on the natural geography of the Big Bay area to provide a unique and traditional swimming experience.
Percurso
Partenza dalla spiaggia, navigazione puntando tra Table Mountain e Lions Head per evitare le rocce, virata attorno a una boa arancione, sfruttamento della corrente, passaggio tra le rocce e la linea dei surfisti, arrivo sulla spiaggia.
Como chegar
Aeroporto Internazionale di Cape Town (CPT) a 25km. Non esiste una rete ferroviaria capillare per il sito gara; si consiglia il noleggio auto o l'uso di Uber/Bolt. Il sito è raggiungibile via N1 o N7. Parcheggi disponibili in loco, ma si raccomanda di arrivare presto per gestire il traffico dell'evento.
