About the race
The 35th edition of the Veer Savarkar Sea Swimming Competition took place in the waters of the Arabian Sea, connecting Chorwad and Veraval. The event, organized by the Department of Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities of Gandhinagar together with the Gir Somnath district administration, saw the participation of 25 swimmers from various Indian states, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and West Bengal.
The competition was divided into two distinct courses: a women's race starting from Adri beach and a men's race starting from Chorwad beach. Each participant was accompanied by a small support boat with a lifeguard and a manager, ensuring safety during the crossing. The event is part of a broader program that includes a ten-day training camp, aimed at promoting sea swimming in the region.
