About the race
One of Guernsey's great open-water traditions, the BWCI Open Castle Swim is a community-focused event that brings the island together each summer. Hundreds of swimmers participate in this unique experience, which takes them from the historic Castle Cornet to the Horseshoe Pool at La Vallette.
Organised by the Guernsey Swimming Club and supported by BWCI, the event is deeply rooted in charity, with proceeds shared between selected local causes. Beyond the swim itself, the event celebrates achievement, notably through the Bill Green Memorial Trophy, which has been awarded annually since 1996 to the oldest swimmer to complete the course.
