Neptune Challenge

About the race

Neptune Challenge is an open water endurance swimming event unlike any other. Set in the sheltered waters of Amager Strandpark in Copenhagen, swimmers from Denmark and around the world come together for a unique weekend built around endurance, community, personal challenge, and a shared love of the water.

The concept is simple. Every hour, participants start a new 1,500-metre swim. The time spent swimming counts towards the challenge, while the remaining time before the next start can be used to rest, recover, eat, sleep, reflect, and prepare for what comes next. Participants can choose between challenges lasting 6, 12, 24, 30, or 42 hours.

It is about discovering what happens when people willingly step outside their comfort zone. It is about perseverance during the night, sharing stories between swims, supporting fellow participants, and experiencing the unique atmosphere that develops when a community spends hours and days together around a common challenge.

Course

Course at Amager Strandpark, Copenhagen. Endurance race: 1.5 km every hour for a chosen duration of 6, 12, 24, 30, or 42 hours. Open water circuit with constant safety support and assistance.

How to get there

The Neptune Challenge takes place in Copenhagen. Airport: CPH (Kastrup), 8km from the city center. Central Station: København H, well-connected by regional trains and metro. The race site is accessible by bike or metro (line M2/M3). Parking is limited in the city center; public transport or bike sharing is recommended.
