About the race
The Round Trip Alcatraz is a legendary and demanding 3.75-mile double Alcatraz swim, designed for strong and fast swimmers. It requires strategic planning to navigate the complex tides and swift currents of the San Francisco Bay, making it one of the toughest events offered by San Francisco Swim.
Starting from St. Francis Beach, participants complete a clockwise loop around Alcatraz before maneuvering back to the finish at Aquatic Park Cove. The event is highly competitive and intended for experienced open-water swimmers with strong navigation skills, serving as an ideal preparation for longer endurance competitions.
