About the race

The XIII Travesía Fuencaliente - Huéscar is much more than a simple open water competition; it is a profound celebration of nature and tradition held in the heart of the Granada province. Taking place in the unique setting of the Fuencaliente lake, this event marks a highlight in the regional sporting calendar, drawing swimmers who seek to challenge themselves in a serene and ecologically significant environment.

Huéscar, a town steeped in history and surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of the Altiplano de Granada, provides a breathtaking backdrop for the race. The Fuencaliente area is renowned for its crystalline, temperate waters that originate from natural springs, creating a refreshing and invigorating experience for participants. The surrounding flora and the quietude of the lake offer a stark, beautiful contrast to the intensity of the race, making it a perfect destination for athletes looking to reconnect with the wild.

With thirteen editions behind it, the Travesía has become a beloved local tradition, embodying the spirit of community and resilience. The event is organized with the dedication of the Ayuntamiento de Huéscar, ensuring a warm, welcoming atmosphere that caters to swimmers of various levels, from seasoned veterans to those testing their limits in open water for the first time. The inclusive nature of the event makes it an excellent choice for a family getaway, as the charm of the town and the surrounding natural park provide plenty of excitement for spectators and companions.
