Where to stay
Dundee offers a mix of Victorian-era converted apartments near the waterfront and traditional guesthouses along the northern banks. For a more authentic feel, small inns in the villages flanking the estuary provide proximity to the swim start. Prices range from £80 per night for independent guesthouses to £150+ for boutique hotels overlooking the Tay. During the July race weekend, booking in advance is essential due to limited capacity in the smaller coastal settlements.
Things to do nearby
The weekend is well-suited for exploring the maritime history of the Firth, including tours of the historic RRS Discovery. Beyond the water, the area offers extensive walking trails around the volcanic slopes of the Law, providing panoramic views of the estuary. Local food culture is anchored by fresh seafood and artisanal bakeries in the city center. For those seeking active recovery, kayak rentals are available to navigate the calmer inlet waters near the salt marshes.
