Kick off your New Year with a refreshing splash in the Atlantic! The San Salitre open water swim, held annually on January 1st at Playa Valleseco, has become a beloved tradition for swimmers in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Starting the year in the crystal-clear waters of the Canary Islands is more than just a race; it is a revitalizing ritual that brings together a vibrant community of local enthusiasts and visiting athletes.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife offers a stunning backdrop for this event, where the rugged volcanic beauty of the island meets the deep blue of the Atlantic. The atmosphere is electric yet welcoming, perfectly suited for both competitive swimmers aiming for a fast start to their season and families looking to share a unique holiday experience. With a wide range of categories—from kids' races to diverse age groups and even dedicated divisions for participants with functional diversity—the event prides itself on inclusivity.

Organized by the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife with technical direction from Gesport Canarias, the event is known for its professional execution and warm, festive spirit. Whether you are a seasoned marathon swimmer or a casual enthusiast, you will find a supportive environment here.
