About the race
The Nadada de la Amistad (Friendship Swim) is more than just a competitive event; it is a long-standing tradition of the Peruvian coast that celebrates the deep connection between athletes and the Pacific Ocean. Held annually at the sun-drenched Playa Mar Azul in the Asia resort, this event has evolved into a premier fixture on the Peruvian open water calendar. Since its inception, the race has been defined by its spirit of camaraderie, where the love for nature and the bonds of friendship take precedence over the clock.
Now organized by the expert team at Perú Swimmers in collaboration with the Asociación Mar y Azul, the race continues a legacy of sportsmanship that has united generations of swimmers for over seventeen editions. It is a highly inclusive event, welcoming participants from age 14 up to 70 and beyond, making it a perfect goal for both seasoned endurance athletes and those looking to test their limits in a supportive, professionally managed environment. The atmosphere is distinctively warm and welcoming, reflecting the vibrant culture of the Lima region’s southern coast.
Beyond the competition, the event is deeply rooted in local responsibility. Each participant contributes to the community through the donation of non-perishable food items, which are gifted to the local Omas of Asia community, adding a meaningful philanthropic layer to every stroke taken in the water. Whether you are aiming for a personal best or simply looking to experience the beauty of the Peruvian shoreline, you will find a welcoming community ready to share the experience. After you’ve crossed the finish line and celebrated with your fellow swimmers, it is the perfect time to {{link:accommodations|find a comfortable place to stay}} near the Boulevard de Asia, or to take a moment to {{link:experiences|explore the surrounding coastal beauty}} and local culture. With professional safety support provided by local lifeguards, jet skis, and paddleboards, it is an accessible, safe, and truly unforgettable way to experience the heart of Peru’s open water swimming scene.
