About the race

La Guaira prepares to host an open water competition for the first time, an unprecedented event in the country that seeks to promote swimming and sea safety. The initiative, called Aquamaster Ecoswim Openwater, was born from the personal experience of its founder, Jonás Alvarado, who, after overcoming his own fear of the sea, decided to promote swimming instruction as a lifesaving tool in the face of high drowning rates in Venezuela.

The event stands out for its ecological focus, rewarding participants with medals made from recycled plastic and rubber. With the support of the World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA) and the participation of Olympic athlete Paola Pérez as an ambassador, the competition aims to be an inclusive space for all ages, promoting both the sporting experience and environmental awareness.
